About

The Irish Music Archives in Boston College’s John J. Burns Library collects materials that help document the history of Irish traditional music in America.

In addition to published books, recordings, and sheet music, the collection includes unpublished archival materials such as manuscripts, photographs, letters, field recordings (both physical and digital), and musical instruments. To learn more about the collections and how to access them, please visit the Irish Music Archives research guide.

Burns Library provides remote reference services, and we also offer research appointments to visitors from around the world.
